STARTED
BACKSTORY.
Hi, we're Gia and Taris. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and yes, we're really siblings (we get this question a lot... :)
We've designed and built different kinds of engineering projects for some years now you can find them on our main website spuxx.com. We're also into medicine. And we like humans. A lot. So when a ventilator shortage became obvious during the first Covid-19 wave in Italy, it was logical for us to research ventilators. From earlier work on an autoclave for prepreg carbon fiber parts, we were familiar with automated pressure and flow control. That sped things up.
But this project took on a completely new direction and dimension when we realized the devastating impact and human toll of the global lack of affordable ventilators.
